Trilemma Adventures Kickstarter Title

Michael Prescott contacted me through Twitter to ask if I could do the motion design for a title video for his Kickstarter campaign. Michael writes and illustrates a series titled "Trilemma Adventures" which are two-page dungeon adventures for fantasy role playing games.

The message I'm trying to underscore non-verbally with the video is:

a) There's a lot of great content in these adventures, and there are a lot of them. I've been busy!
b) Together, they create a fully realized world - step in and experience it.

I was given a very clear brief, art direction, storyboard sketches and Michael's own fantastic illustrated assets. I was responsible for preparing his designs for animation, texturing, colour grading and animating. The textures on the pages were composed in After Effects so it was easy to swap and change dungeon maps as needed. The native Cinema 4D 3D renderer in After Effects was used for the falling paper section so some subtle geometry bends could be applied to the pages.

Usually I prepare all the storyboards and illustrations for animations so it was a fun change to collaborate with Michael who is a super pleasant and talented creative person!

Check out his Kickstarter project and visit trilemma.com to see his whole campaign video. Michael added some atmospheric sound design to his version of the video too which you can hear on his version of the video.
