Wherever I go, I always carry a sketchbook. It’s a wonderful way to observe and record the world around you. Here are sketches and artwork from my travels. This includes my home country, England and even the city where I live (Derby). I believe you can find interesting and beautiful things on your doorstep, they don’t always have to be in a far off country.

I was in Bakewell for a business meeting and afterwards I stopped by Monsal Head (Derbyshire, England) for lunch and some sketching. My drawing pales in comparison to the epic landscape but it was a happy and calming thing to do. -

Silly observational sketch of the London Welcome Gallery's shop. -
Drawn on the train home after a long day walking around London. I do love all the culture and attractions in London but find the crowds unsettling. I guess I'm just a country bumpkin at heart! -

Gran Canaria - Some sneaky life drawing studies of people around the pool in watercolour and ink. -

Tucans in the rainforest, Ecuador -
The cartoon museum in London was brilliant! A collection of British cartoons, comics, caricatures and political satire dating back to the 1700s. They also had a manga exhibition on. There was a free little communal drawing area (intended for children I think ) but someone had left a little cartoon self portrait. So I did the same. -
