In October 2016 I took part in a group animation challenge just for fun. It’s called Cel Corpse and the main rule is that you must use cel / frame by frame animation techniques. This is where each frame is drawn rather than tweened with keyframes (read my blog for more information about these animation production methods). I used Photoshop and a Wacom Cintiq to draw my frames.
Cel Corpse starts with everyone drawing the last frame of their animation clip. Then another person’s last frame is given to you as your first frame. Then you fill in the 4 seconds in between those frames! There are other rules about size, colours and theme for each round of the game too. The theme for this was “flip flop, wiggle jiggle”. My first frame is an excellent dragon by Caitlin Cadieux. So I animated from the dragon to my two twisted jellies.
