Eye Promise are a USA based eye vitamin company with a mission to fight vision loss and preserve healthy vision. Following the success of the first EZ Tears animation we created, Eye Promise asked to create another animated advert. This time for their Screen Shield Teen vitamins that protects against screen time effects like headaches, eye strain, and tired eyes.
The marketing team at Eye Promise provided a script and voiceover. We adapted the script for animation and sketched a storyboard and animatic video. We also designed some character designs based on Eye Promise's branding guidelines to help visualise how the final video will look.
The next phase was illustrating the storyboards and preparing design assets for animation. Once the polished storyboards were approved by Eye Promise, we moved onto the animation phase.
Three character puppet rigs were built for the After Effects animation using the rigging plugins Duik Bassel and Joy Sticks n Slider. This made the character animation process much more efficient and flexible. Some elements were 3D models created in Cinema 4D which were then composited in After effects.
Alongside the 90 second animation, we also created 3 x 15 second YouTube advert variations. These variants were designed for different audiences at different points of the customer journey.

To create 3 x 15 second edited versions of the longer video to use as You Tube adverts.
The target audience are parents of 7 to 14 year olds who spend a lot of time in front of screens.
The animation style will include characters and will follow the company brand guidelines.

The Process
Script writing
The script narration was written by the EyePromise Marketing Team. We wrote creative visual descriptions of what could happen on screen in the animation. We worked closely with them to ensure the eye diagrams communicated clearly while remaining scientifically accurate.
