Pecha Kucha Poster design and illustration

Pecha Kucha is an idea born in Japan, where creative people get to talk about something that makes them tick. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds.

The organisers of Pecha Kucha in Derby, UK commissioned this illustrated poster. They were shown 3 concepts and the Zen Garden theme was chosen for its reference the Japanese origins of Pecha Kucha. Japanese Ukiyo-e prints inspired the visual style of this design.

The organisers of PechaKucha Derby are:

  • Dawn Foote from Katapult
  • Aleena Naylor from BBC Radio Derby
  • Simon Foote from Simon Foote Architects.

Sponsors are University of Derby, QUAD and CIN
