Ecosystem Services and Sustainable Development Goals

Ecosystem Services and Sustainable Development Goals

I was commissioned by researcher Giles Exley at Lancaster University to create a concept illustration that visually links ecosystem services to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The initial concept was complex, so part of my role was to refine and reorganise the layout to communicate the connections more clearly.

Process:

  • Developed 4 layout options, integrating shapes and text for clarity.
  • Provided 2 rounds of revisions to refine the selected layout.
  • Created custom sketch icon illustrations representing both ecosystem services and UN Goals.
  • Offered 2 rounds of revisions to ensure the icons accurately conveyed the intended message.
  • Finalised the illustration with 2 additional rounds of revisions to polish the layout and design.
  • Delivered the completed project in JPEG and PDF formats, along with separated PNG and PDF files for flexibility in use.

This project aimed to make complex research concepts more accessible through clear, visually engaging illustrations.
