Citizen Science Project: Big Windermere Survey

We partnered with the Freshwater Biological Association to create a 2-minute animated video promoting the Big Windermere Survey. This citizen science initiative encourages volunteers to monitor and protect Lake Windermere, an iconic freshwater ecosystem in the UNESCO World Heritage English Lake District. This project combines science communication and animation to inspire people to get involved with citizen science to protect freshwater ecosystems.

The animation aimed to:

  • Raise awareness about the environmental threats facing Windermere, including climate change, agricultural runoff, and invasive species.
  • Showcase the survey's importance in gathering data to inform conservation efforts.
  • Inspire the public and local communities to sign up as volunteers.

Audience

The general public, community volunteers, and those passionate about protecting freshwater ecosystems.
