Buildings Don't Breathe - Explainer Animation

We collaborated with Dr Hector Altamirano at University College London to create a short animated video explaining why the term "breathability" is misleading when it comes to building materials and moisture — and the more precise terminology that building practitioners should use instead.

The animation clarifies the difference between air permeability and moisture transport, introducing key concepts including vapour permeability, capillary action, and hygroscopicity. Using accurate terminology helps practitioners avoid choosing inappropriate insulation methods that can lead to damp, condensation, and long-term damage to buildings.
